Brinkman Gourmet Electric Smoker Reviews

We found around 40 online reviews for Brinkman Gourmet Electric Smoker and Grill with Vinyl Cover. Most of the reviewers were happy on their purchase because it’s so easy to use and the food is cooked well.

Basically just fill the pan with water, put in some wood chunks, put on the food and leave it alone for a few hours. The Electric works when it’s cold and it doesn’t run out in the middle of a big cooking session, unlike propane.

Assembly for the Brinkman smoker is straightforward and needs a screwdriver and pliers. You will also need to season the smoker before using it for real but it’s a simple process; just coat the inside with vegetable oil and then run it for 3 or so hours.

It produces gobs of smoke and it has a nice big fluid bowl, 2 racks; each is capable of holding a big turkey. It is easy to clean. Also it has a nice side door for adding the odd chunk of wood. The construction quality is not what you would call top notch, but acceptable for the price.

On the other hand, some reviewers were not pleased with it. Ash builds up quickly on the lava rocks, which after a long while will start to float. There is no smokestack, so smoke comes out on all sides of the top. This is more a mild hard smoke particularly if it’s cold out. The time in the manual is virtually useless.

Temperature never gets above 200 degrees and that is on a calm day with the outside temperature 78 degrees. It has no way to control the temperature, so it runs at 250F by design. The hotter it runs, the faster the meat is done, and the less smoke flavor it gets as a result.

The internal temperature of the Brinkman electric smoker stayed at 200′-230′ and yet the bird’s temp only reached 150′. Far less than the 180′ cooked temperature required.  Assembly of this electric smoker is pretty tedious. It has a lot of very small nuts and bolts that have to be applied. The tolerances for the mounting holes in the handles are off, requiring you to have to force the bolts into them, and bend the handles to make them fit.

Brinkman Electric Smoker got an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars on online reviews which clearly show that it has a lot of nice features to offer. The Brinkman smoker is a good option if you don’t want to babysit the smoker because you just can leave it for hours while it does its job.
